Public Safety Listening Session - This Sunday!

For those of you that live or work in the Dane county, there will be a Public Safety Listening Session this Sunday night, September 20th, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at High Point Church, 7702 High Point Road. to talk about what citizens believe should be top priorities for our city and county in the face of tight budgets. The D.A., Brian Blanchard, has asked for a 6% cut in budgets. This is your opportunity to share your opinion with local officials in a public forum.
We can all talk about the terrible taxes we pay when we live in Madison and Dane County, however I have to believe there are a lot of useless things that can be cut while public safety is key but underfunded. If we believe in a small federal government, it means that local and county government have to be focused properly on behalf the people. This is one of those issues that hits every race, and every income level, and more simply anyone who lives and spends time in Madison and Dane County. As someone who lives in a neighborhood that borders more dangerous neighborhoods and watches crime move closer every year, this is a big issue for me. Since the tiny focus on crime in Madison started after the first crime meeting on the west side I have seen improvement but so much more has to be done, not less. This is our chance to bend the ear of county and city officials on this important topic.
