This Wednesday's Meet & Greet for Dane County Board Candidates

Friends,
I wanted to take a few moments personally to encourage all Dane County members to attend the MEET & GREET that the Wisconsin 9/12 Project is collaboratively hosting for County Board candidates this Wednesday from 5-7pm at Kavanaugh's Esquire Club.
As we all know, the Dane County Board has too long been dominated by supervisors with no sense of fiscal or political responsibility. They have spent indiscriminately, passed outrageous budgets, raised property taxes, and lost Dane County's AAA bond rating. Never mind the cost that will result from their disastrous vote to establish the RTA--or the property devaluation they still want to push through via Shoreland Zoning. We must now elect responsible candidates in order finally to restore sanity in this county. It is, quite literally, our chief priority through election day, April 6th.
I know a lot of us have ignored local elections in the past, but we simply can't anymore. This is YOUR WALLET AND FREEDOM being affected, folks.
We cannot as a group endorse any of the participating candidates. But this meet & greet provides a crucial opportunity for people to get to know candidates, the issues on which they're running, and the values and principles to which they hold. I am asking that locally-based members make every effort to get to this event and, if possible, to bring others with you. If you've never made it to another meetup, please come to this one.
Here's why...
Turnout for local elections is typically very poor--often between only 7 and 10 percent. That's especially true for non-partisan races like County Board. If we can each bring even a friend or two to this event, get behind these candidates with our dollars or a few volunteer hours, and get people to the polls on April 6th, we will achieve our goal.
Also, if you haven't had a chance to meet him yet, Dave Westlake, an outstanding candidate running against Russ Feingold for U.S. Senate (and now within striking distance of him) will be there to deliver a keynote address. Even Vicki McKenna plans to be there after she finishes her show that evening. It promises to be a great evening.
If you haven't RSVP'd yet, please take the time to do so. If you can't find a friend to bring, please just come yourself. Let's together demonstrate the effectiveness of this group as we work to take Dane County back!!
