Local elections are critical. But most of us don't even bother to think about them until election results are announced in the paper.
On March 3rd, we'll be joining with other local organizations to host a Meet & Greet/Fundraiser for candidates who are stepping up to run for positions on the Dane County Board. The event will run from 5 - 7pm at the always welcoming Kavanaugh's Esquire Club.
Dave Westlake, candidate for U.S. Senate, has graciously agreed to be the event's keynote speaker. Dave is wholly committed to fiscal sanity and constitutional principles and will set the tone perfectly for this opportunity to get to know County Board Candidates who want to help turn this county around.
This past year alone, the Dane County Board:
Voted for a 7.9% budget increase that will translate into new taxes for you and me.
Abdicated its authority and ability to represent you by voting to establish an unelected, unaccountable regional transit authority (RTA) with the power to tax and borrow in order to create a commuter rail projected to cost $45 million/yr to operate, not counting ticket subsidies of approximately $43/rider.
Attempted to lower the value of properties within 1,000 feet of water (pretty much any water, including retention ponds) all while ensuring that your property TAXES will rise.
It's time to get to know and support some candidates who've pledged to move things in a better direction.
